Discover how categories in JustCMS can help you manage your content better and make it easier for users to find what they need.
Categories in JustCMS are a simple yet powerful tool for organizing and filtering your content. While straightforward to use, understanding how to manage them effectively can greatly enhance your website's structure.
To get started, navigate to the Categories section in the left-side menu. Click on the Create a New Category button to begin. You'll need to fill out two fields:
Name: The display name of the category (e.g., "Documentation").
Slug: A unique identifier for the category (e.g., "docs"). The slug acts as an ID and is used to retrieve or filter pages by category.
For example, you can create a category named "Documentation" with the slug "docs."
After creating a category, you can assign it to your pages. In the page form, you’ll find a list of all available categories. Select one or more categories to associate with the page. This allows you to group and filter pages easily, making it simple to organize content for display on your website.
To see how categories work in filtering, navigate to the API page. Here, you’ll find the filter.category.slug
option. By specifying a category slug, you can retrieve only the pages assigned to that category. This feature is particularly useful for displaying category-specific content dynamically.
You can edit or delete categories at any time. However, before deleting a category, ensure that it is not actively used on your website. Deleting a category that is in use can disrupt functionality and may require manual fixes.
That’s all you need to know to start using categories in JustCMS. This feature keeps your content organized and accessible while maintaining simplicity and flexibility. With JustCMS, managing your website's structure is as efficient as it is effective. Happy organizing!
